Tea will always be the favourite beverage of the intellectual.

Bought myself a little Maneki Neko today before seeing Lottie ~ it’s meant to bring happiness.
Ohh man, I love how these beckoning cats are in the shop-front/window of every business here in Macau & Hong Kong & China.
I can’t find a miniature one like this to take home (we have a standard sized one in our front-lounge-room in Sydney). The street markets ae chaotic and so busy! It’s great!
I miss my cats though, can’t wait to see them, and make their paws beckon me!
This episode of Pokemon is kind of like the really sad episode of Futurama except with way more hijinks so you don’t feel quite so sad.

Nouvelle Vague - In A Manner Of Speaking
I don’t know when it’s better or worse if I don’t say anything when I post songs, but I couldn’t really put something out there like this without at least saying I am profoundly disappointed in a lot of things but I’m still really optimistic and feeling alright mostly, and this song is really comforting for that particular paradox in my life.

A new class I’m taking brought me to the University earlier this week and I happened to park near this mural. I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of it. It was painted by Daniel Johnston on the side of what was then a record store called Sound Exchange. While I was in school at UT, Sound Exchange closed and Baja Fresh bought the place. They were going to tear down the mural until the proprietor saw a photo of Kurt Cobain wearing a “Hi How Are You” shirt. So he went out of his way to keep the mural in tact while tearing down the rest of the wall. Eventually Baja Fresh closed too and now it’s a sushi restaurant, thus the sickly-looking bamboo.
If you don’t know who Daniel Johnston is, I highly recommend the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston. It captures a specific moment in the Austin music and art scene and I think it captures pretty well what it’s like to love someone suffering from mental illness. The stories his friends and family share are unforgettable.
